Welcome to 226
Printing, Photo Restoration and Framing
We print using wide format photography grade printers that use archival pigment-based inks to produce outstanding colour reproduction.
Jo at "Framed in Dunedin' on our ground floor can offer a variety of mouldings and glass to protect your print for years to come and have it looking gallery-ready.
Using the latest image editing technology we can enlarge, repair,
remove imperfections or objects and enhance your old photos and digital images ready for print.
In addition to printing, 226 is a creative space that produces limited and open-edition relief and photographic prints available for purchase.
Please reach out to us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
There are several factors to consider when deciding how large a digital file can be printed: camera sensor size, lens quality and subject matter all play a major role.
This is an area that can become rather technical and debatable.
With terms such as megapixels, DPI, PPI and resolution being bandied about.
The information captured by the camera's sensor gives a detailed understanding of the file's capabilities for printing and editing.
Every picture is different in terms of subject matter, how it will be displayed and distance it will be viewed from. Please click on 'Learn More' under 'Printing' for a deeper understanding of an image's metadata and how it relates to print size.
Paper choice can be a personal preference, but often the subject matter can be complimented by careful selection of the texture and sheen.
We have number of fine art papers that differ in look and feel, head to our 'Paper' section on the website for a more detailed understanding of the paper we use.
You will find data sheets at the bottom of the page that provide detailed specs for each paper.
Images that require little to no editing can often be picked up the following day.
We strongly suggest all prints be left to dry for at least 24 hours before being framed or placed in a sleeve in order for them to properly cure.
We will give you an accurate turn around time for your order when we provide you with your quote.
This depends on how many images you would like printed, the editing work required, and the size of the final prints.
226 offers competitive pricing and has a larger selection of fine art papers than most other print labs in Dunedin.
Please check out our pricing page or get in touch via phone or email for a better understanding.
We also offer discounts for multiple prints and to our returning customers.
